Lake Balboa: small budget makes big makeover too!

Lake Balboa: small budget makes big makeover too!

The budget doesn’t matter. A well thought makeover will make a difference in your yard. If necessary, the work can always be scheduled in different phases.
This project includes: a terrace area, a playground for kids, some planting beds, an orchard and a vegetable garden.

We focussed on:

  • - creating privacy from adjacent neighbors;
  • - taking advantage of neighbors’ large scale trees (Oak, Pine) and unifying the yard to the surrounding landscape by mimicking the existing;
  • - dividing the space into outdoor rooms, paying attention to the proportions, and the connections;
  • - selecting nice 24″ box trees in nursery to create the structure of the garden. Other plants can be smaller, they will grow.
  • Implementation of project: cutting, trimming, cleaning, grading, moving the shack to another corner, painting existing fence with selected color, planting tall trees, planting low hedges, installing borders, planting 5gal and 1gal plants, installing irrigation, installing DG and gravel surfaces, building new fence with new gate on side of house and painting it.

    We used low pressure dripping irrigation for the planting beds and the hedges.

    This project includes: decomposed granite terrace, kids’ playground, ornamental garden, new fruit trees, vegetable garden, and nice views from every corner of the yard.
